January Meeting Minutes

The Athens FFA Chapter meeting was held on January 12, 2015. At 3:17 pm Presidents Hayley Yoakum and Danielle Cornwell called the meeting to order with opening ceremonies. Abbigail Stuebs announced that there were 12 members and guests present.

Officer Reports-

Justin Myers, Reporter, reviewed this month’s newsletter. Jessica Harding and Justin Myers are members of the month. A scrapbook committee has been formed and consists of five members.

Jacqueline Stuebs, Treasurer, announced that the chapter’s beginning balance for the month was $20,952.11. The ending balance is $13,031.71.

Abbigail Stuebs, Secretary, reviewed last meeting’s minutes.

Lea Kissick moved to approve the officer reports. Nathan Mayfield seconded the motion.

Vote: motion passed. 10:0

Business-

Howard Kline moved to keep the chapter ski trip price the same as it was last year. The motion was seconded by Justin Myers and discussion was followed. A majority vote was taken and the vote passed.

Chapter Ski Trip Prices:

  • Members who sold 5 fruit items and 15 raffle tickets will need to pay $100 to ski or $115 to snowboard.

  • Members who did not sell any tickets will have to pay $140 to ski or $155 to snowboard.

  • Any guest who attend the Athens High School will have to pay $160 to ski or $175 to snowboard.

Discounts will be made for each ticket sold over 15 and for 5 boxes of fruit sold over 10.

A committee will be formed for FFA week. Ideas will be needed to create a new activity or for any dress up days. Howard Kline moved to make a committee and the motion was seconded by Lea Kissick. A vote was taken and the motion was passed.

Extra Business-

A fair share will be made for the foundation drive if we do not get enough money donated to us. Our chapter will pay around $300. Foundation committee members will need to show up to the next foundation drive meeting on Friday, January 16.

A committee will be formed for FFA week. Ideas will be needed to create a new activity or for any dress up days.

Sign-up sheets will be on the board for upcoming CDE’s.

Section Proficiency is coming up. All records need to be turned in.

A career day has been set up by our chapter’s presidents. We will visit local businesses to learn more information about each. Short tours will also be included. This will take place on February 11.

The Illinois products expo is coming up soon and volunteers are needed.

The chapter proceeded through closing ceremonies. Danielle Cornwell and Hayley Yoakum adjourned the January meeting of the Athens FFA Chapter at 4:04 pm on January 12, 2015.
